TV's Mother Angelica Dies at 92 on Easter Sunday

Mother Mary Angelica of the Annunciation, a Franciscan nun (born Rita Antoinette Rizzo on April 20, 1923) passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27... a befitting day for the TV personality and founder of the broadcast cable television network Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN).

Mother Angelica began broadcasting religious programs from a garage TV studio in 1981 out of Birmingham, Alabama. Over the next twenty years, she developed a media network that included radio, TV, and internet channels as well as printed media.

She hosted shows herself until her stroke in 2001 and then went to live in a cloistered monastery in Hanceville until her death at age 92 on March 27, 2016, Easter Sunday.
